BCI - Enclosures

So if I am correct, the way to figure out appropriate enclosure size is snakes length = enclosure width + length? So if my Boas 6', my enclosure should be 4' x 2'? I just got two that*are*3½' x 1½' x 7". Having a guy who owns a construction company build a two tier rack for me for free because he mentioned how he just started another business but he's having troubles getting the word out (An arcade. Actually really cheap, and good games + rides!) And I handed out over 100 flyers for him, and he offered his services to me in return. Really cool guy! I gave him one of my tubs so he can build it very tight/exact to avoid gaps - escaping snakes. He's also putting spacers on the shelves so I can slide my heat mats in each tier

should be done by Monday. I just want to know if the way I figure out enclosure sizes is fine.

Well that is informative I guess but not really a solution. How do YOU size your cages? I hope this doesn't sound rude. I just want to know ahead of time. How should I size cages appropriately?

I don't 'size' enclosures. I don't use a formula, I use my judgement and if it looks appropriate thats what I go with..Usually what I purchase the first time around is good enough, if not you can always fill it with a different snake and get another, or return it and go bigger.

My perths are in tubs unfortunately, although the tubs are almost 3 times as long as the snake, and the width is the about the length of the snake give or take. They have plenty of room, and use every inch (which is why I need to get them into real enclosures so I can watch)

If I had a 6+ boa I would house it in nothing smaller than a 4x3x3 but that's just me, and it's also the reason why I chose to go Caye Caulker over colombian. Since I own several animals I can't afford to own "large"(relative) snakes.

I'm just going with the Boaphile 421D's... They're the cheapest and said to be good enclosures. If my BCI's ever get too big for those, I will buy a bigger Boaphile enclosure.

My 6 foot boa is in a 6x3x3 and at that he could do with more space, at a minimum I'd say 6ft long, the depth of the viv makes a huge difference.

I have 2 big adult boas. Both are in 6x2x20" My female is a bit of a slug and is only active when the scent of dinner is in the air. My male spends all of his time trucking around his enclosure. So this size is fine foe my female but I think a 8x4x2 would be much better for ny male. He would use the room. Although the formula your using is a good start it needs to be matched to the needs of your animal as well.

Thanks. Haven't had either of them long enough to add that into the equation. I appreciate it, man
