What do you think of this Hog?
I am looking into getting a female Hog. I had bought a baby female, but I was offered to trade it with the male I was watching for a friend (she took the baby instead of her male) and I accepted since I can already see that he has a (what I think is) nice coloration.
I saw this 2 year old female for sale and I am debating getting her. The only thing is, I would have to buy her kind of sight unseen as the owner would bring her down from 3hrs away when he comes into my area anyways.
I know, I could always refuse the purchase if I see the snake is in bad shape, but I would otherwise feel obliged to buy her. By the pics, she seems to look good and with a nice coloration. But, I know how pics can sometimes be deceiving with colors. She eats F/T.
So, I just wanted to ask you guys what you think of her. Does it look like a Hog that you'd be interested in? I prefer more specking normally, but I haven't see many adult females especially who seem to have nice oranges. (I prefer an adult so I can see the mature coloration right off the bat). What do you look for in pics when buying a snake sight unseen? I have never done this before?

It's a nice hog
I also prefer speckling but I find most people don't.
How much do they want if you don't mind me asking

Love his coloration. I'd buy him.

I'm with you, speckling is cool.
She is nice but can you verify her purity? Because you get swindled out of a lot of money if you care about that sort of thing.

Re: What do you think of this Hog?
Thanks for your replies.
As for purity, she is for sale from a private owner, I don't know what they can prove? I am not looking for a snake for breeding, so purity in and of itself does not bother me that much. I love the Hog's colors and that they don't get huge, I guess I could get screwed for size, but in a snake so light could we assume that even if it is not pure that there is a lot of Hog in it and therefore should not get super huge? I don't know how that works.
They are asking 200$ nego.
Thanks for the input, everyone. Of, if anyone know of any reputable Hog breeders in Canada, let me know (in post or by PM). Thanks..

If I never had any intent on breeding hogs in the far future I wouldn't care at all about purity.
As for size even a bci's size is over exaggerated, most males are still in the 5-6 foot range and females only slightly larger.

Re: What do you think of this Hog?
Thanks for the info. No, I have no intention to breed not even in the future. The only reason I am looking for a female is because I love the Hogs but I'd also like to have a snake with a bit more girth to it.
Stupid question: will the male be stressed if he senses a "ripe" female close by that he can't get to? I also have a baby female Sonoran, she's on another floor for now (qt for any future snake will also be upstairs in a separate room). Should I keep the females upstairs permanently? Or would it not make a difference.

Unless he is a bad feeder there should be no issues.
