Could you imagine being crammed and stuck into a tiny place, and (with such a slow metabolism) live for 5 months like that? Would be crazy..

There was the swirled sand we found in a water dish to show he was soaking. Plus the fact that all the krinkled tin found (along down stairs walls) has never set off the motion sensors at night. So we know he is around and we know he is upstairs.
The basement is normally around 71 to 77. Recently I put an oil rad in the snake room that holds air temp right at 80 so I set up another hide at the foot of that door just incase he does find his way down there.
He hi being....veeeery sneeeeeaky!

probly already been suggested, but a heat lamp setup sumwhere, in a room it knows and feels secure in, or somewhere secluded and quiet, will almost certainly bring it out, they have great heat seeking sensitivity and it might want to bask at some point, depending on the temps in your house - u'll have to sit n watch it I suspect, baring in mind that snakes are very sensitive to vibration and once warmed up, could disappear again before you've walked to whatever room you set it up in. in door picnic and snake spotting for the weekend it sounds like to me! best of luck, i'm sure u'll find it soon

Re: Lost Snake Nighmare.....
Well if he is upstairs and you have a bathroom upstairs fill the tub with hot water before bed and put a hide with heat mat in there. The moisture will attract him. The heat will keep him. Also try keeping every light in the house on until late. The turn everything off, wait 10 min and then run around turning it all back on and look for him. They come out rigjt when the lights go off when in their enclosures right.... good luck!!

This is only if you wanna go extreme but....
You could do this for every room and leave a mouse in each one. Which ever room the mouse goes missing in you know which part of the house he prefers to be in. They won't move as much with a full stomach either so he won't be too far away from where you left the mouse as long as there are hiding spots.

Yeah, just so skinny... I slowly brought her back up to large feedings. I felt horrible knowing she was stuck there in a new hide I had got her to feel safe in.
Sadly, she got loose (again... even with locks *sigh*) about 8 months ago... I don't know if I'll ever find her.

I know... you don't know how much I cried when I found her. I couldn't believe she was right in front of me the whole time. It was one of those complex hides with fake moss and crevices and stuff. My mom had to gently crack the whole thing so she wouldn't squish my snake. The process took like 5 hours, I'm proud of my mom for that, because she's terrified of snakes. :/ I spoiled her to death after that. I miss her.
Hopefully she'll turn up one day.

Re: Lost Snake Nighmare.....
Haven't checked in here for awhile. I'm sorry to hear you still haven't found your snake. Have you thought about cooling your house down a couple degrees, and putting some heat sources in one or two rooms? Maybe that'll smoke him out.

Re: Lost Snake Nighmare.....
Few new (good ideas). I like Dans idea full (warm tub) with a heat source. Looking for rolls of heat tape this week (some melamine followed me home!) so I'll get extra to leave areound. Thanks everyone!

I know most of this has already been suggested to one degree or another.
But when I lost my snake, after many hours of searching, setting traps and tearing a lot of dry wall down. I set up a camera where I thought she was coming out. Sure enough after reviewing the camera she would come out every few days.
THE PLAN: I cut and set up a large cardboard box like a fence leaving a space where she could get in. I laid a towel on the floor under it and put a red heat lamp over top for heat and insulation. I also put in a hide, water dish and mouse.
The Trap Is Set: I then set watching this for four days, late afternoon and evenings when I knew she was coning out. After three days I think it was she came out and I waited till she got away from her escape route
and nabbed her.
I hope this help to some degree, Oh, BTW she was gone for 9 weeks before I got her back. She was tiny from no food and dehydrated but in good health other then that and is doing GREAT now.
