Sounds like you are on top of it! New Zealand has the best stuff anyway.

As for ants...how odd. There must have been some type of additive used by the moss grower that attracted them?

They might have just liked the humidity and the moss is nice to nest in? I hope there weren't know additives

i would say they were just looking for moisture.
