Hence, not free!! We pay $110 in basic medical for a family of 3, and an additional $120/mo in extended heath care benefits!!
our medical system is not free. The difference between our health system ans that of the USA is that it is madatory by law that every Canadaian be covered by at least basic heath care, so you'll never be turned away from a hospital or DR, but eventually the gov't will catch up with the ammount they believe you owe!!

Welcome to the world dude. The metric system makes sense, and pretty much the entire world uses it. What makes more sense? 1000 milligrams per gram, 1000 grams per kilogram. If something weighs 548 grams, it weights about .548 kilograms, or just over half a kilogram. With metric measurements, all you have to do is move the decimal around to do calculations. It makes way more sense and pretty much the entire world except the US uses it.
Oh, another fun thing. You can convert liquid volume to weight in the metric system too without a calculator. 1 milliliter (0.001 liters) of water weighs 1 gram. 1 liter of water weighs 1 kg. How much does a quarter cup of water weigh? What about 3.68 cups of water plus 2 tablespoons.. how much does that weigh? 3.628 liters of water weighs 3.628 kilograms, or 3628 grams, or 3628000 milligrams.
Let me not even get into measurements of length... Ok maybe I will. Which makes more sense to you? 1.26 or 63/50? Without doing any math, you can easily see 1.26 is about 1 and a quarter. Why do we have 12 inches in a foot? How many inches in 6.748 feet? Can you do it without a calculator? What about metric? How many centimeters in 6.748 meters? 674.8... what about millimeters? 6748 mm in 6.748 meters. Ever see "standard" measurements in the store on that are like 7/153 inch. What the heck does that mean? Can you put a mental image on what that looks like? 0.84 is a lot easier to picture. Sure you can use decimals instead of fractions to represent inches and feet, but you can't easily convert those between the two.
Go pick up a liter of water (approx 1 quart) and feel how much it weighs... That's 1000 grams, or 1 kilogram. Use that as a point of reference and life will be easier. 1000 grams (1 kilogram) is about 2.2 pounds if you insist on thinking in pounds. By the way, how many ounces is 2.2 pounds?
Maybe we should start measuring things in lengths of my finger, or weight of the apple I ate this morning. My snake weighs 1 apple and 3 figs, and is about 3 middle fingers and half of a pinky finger long. This is essentially what inches and feet are. Makes a whole lot more sense does it?

6.748 ft = roughly 81 inches
2.2 lbs = roughly 35.2 ounces
Ok, that's not fair, I've been doing the conversions in my head for years.

Re: what's up with the "grams" thing??
yeah well we were forced to use grams to measure our rats weight since thats all snake people use for this purpose, nvm the fact that since we use the rodentpro standard and thats how they measure them, well... enough said.
