Re: When your favorite snake dies.

My local pet shop owner gets peoples dead reptiles dropped off all the time to dispose of. I started practicing on them trading one prepared skin for 2 fresh practice "specimens" and now I get special requests from people who want to remember there pets forever. I did a job a month or two ago on an 8 foot red tail. Skinned and tanned it. Made an excellent wall piece. Now i'm getting into "stuffing" them for people who want an actual 3d version of it. I've got asked a suprisingly good ammount of times by people who want this done. So you wouldn't be the only one thinking this. It's all on what you're comfortable with.

FYI RTBs are very easy to do yourself and look stunning when done while any type of python (balls especially) are a freakin nightmare. I felt bad a guy had me prepare his pied ball python and when it was done it had lost all its color (almost became transparent) and stiff as a board, while taking about 10 times as long as the RTBs

I have to agree with Freebody. Although getting it stuffed will always make you remember him of the good times you had with your pal.

I wouldn't judge anyone else though I wouldn't do it either.

This was my plan when I had a lovely large corn die last year.
I've still got a nice chunk of his skin in the freezer as aside from skinning it, I have no idea what to do next.
I shall find out at some point though.

Re: When your favorite snake dies.

I'm sure there is some leather fanatic forum out there, give them dimensions and hope for some good ideas?
