Not sure why they called it that but it's wrong. Maybe they called it that so people where more likely to buy it, either way it's a cool snake!

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a "pygmy sidewinder." There are sidewinder subspecies, but they are named by locale. There's a pygmy rattlesnake (Sistrurus spp.) but that is not a sidewinder.

I'm assuming Pygmy sidewinder is another common name, that I've never heard, and another example why Scientific names should be used in tandem with common names.
