Re: Reptile Art - Mixed mediums
Beautiful artwork- you definitely have a talent!
I like that you're combining pencil with watercolor- that's my favorite modus operandi for snake pictures! I like to use the colored watercolor pencils with pen and ink detail, then do a watercolor wash background. It really helps the snake pop and lets it fill up a frame nicely.
I'll post a thread of some of my work, maybe we can give each other inspiration! I sadly don't have much time to draw/paint/sculpt lately due to multiple jobs and a huge viper collection to care for!

Re: Reptile Art - Mixed mediums
Thanks guys!
No progress again on the BRB... :P
So be entertained with a GTP drawing I did last year. Drawing of a photo that I took of my own GTP, Envy, after he passed for unknown reasons (he was WC, so it doesn't overly surprise me)

Re: Reptile Art - Mixed mediums
And here's some progress shots of it when I was working on it.
(Prints are actually available of this! Pm me!)
Here's what a print looks like (except the top is a little more trimmed to match the rest) if you're interested in getting one. 14"x20" I believe. And keep in mind that this was taken with a cellphone, so it really doesn't do it justice!

Re: Reptile Art - Mixed mediums
Not many people can work in many different media. Have to admit, you are one creative person. Have you thought what your going to ask for your original brb piece?

Re: Reptile Art - Mixed mediums
Thank you. I love trying new things, so all this acrylic and sculpting is new to me. These last 3 painting pieces is only my 2-4 times painting on canvas (first time was back in high school).
I wouldn't be selling the original piece of my brb, that I'm keeping for myself, but the prints I'll be selling I'm thinking I'll have around the $70 mark (not including shipping).
I have a tendency to undersell myself (apparently) so I hope at this price people will see to be reasonable. It'll be the same size as the original as well and printed on a cardstock so it's heavier.
Going to do a test print tomorrow actually and see how the resolution turns out. It's too big for my scanner so I had to borrow the bf's camera to take a pic. I just hope the resolution will be high enough so that the prints turn out to be high quality and capture all the detail I put into it.

Re: Reptile Art - Mixed mediums
I'll be doing more! All of which are available to buy! Better snatch them up before I sell them at a local reptile expo next month!
Prints of my BRB will be ready tomorrow, I'm excited! I'll post a pic of them tmrw. Small test print looked real promising. Getting prints made are always worrisome because it's hard getting the print to as close as the original.
For those curious, the next few paintings I have lined up will be: (that will also be sold at the expo, but available to buy at any time they're done....!!)
- hanging GTP with a GT frog on it
- neonate GTP (yellow phase)
- BRB (younger) on bromeliad flower
- BRB on tree trunk in water
- Burm in tree
- diamond python (hmm. maybe, not quite sold on my ref pic)
- eye lash viper close up
- male panther cham x2
- panther cham female
- azureus poison dart x2
- waxy monkey frog
- a bp, idk the morph, but it's half white and half faded, it's cool!! (not a pied, though might do a pied too, I like pie)
- mellers cham tongue shot
- blue/yellow poison dart
- light blue and red poison dart
- gold, green, black poison dart
- some green frog with orange tiger belly
- crestie licking eye
- beardie close up (maybe)
I hope to do all, if not most by the show, wish me luck! And of course, I also take commissions and (consider) requests.
