She's on a tight budget which is why I recommended glass tanks. PLENTY of people use them without any problems. I highly doubt she will be able to afford a PVC enclosure and a thermostat.

Then recommend a plastic tote.

Imo, glass tanks work fine as long as you modify the screen lid to limit ventilation. I use duct tape (not "duck", but the actual tape for heating ducts, essentially it is a metal tape ~$12 for a roll at lowe's or home depot - enough to do about 6 x 40 gal tanks). I have had my male ball python in three glass tanks (10 gal, 20 gal long, 40 gal long) for a year and a half with no problems maintaining humidity. But that is my personal experience, yours may vary! But I feel if you take the extra time and effort you can make a glass tank work.
Glass tanks can work fine if modified like you said. I've seen it done with reptiles that require much higher humidity than balls. I'd say this is better though:

When I got the two turtles (not that humidity was an issue, just talking size and price), instead of trying to find a big enough aquarium, I just bought a big plastic tub for about $7. Much, much cheaper.

She wants it as a pet with her son, I can guarantee they want a nice looking enclosure while plastic totes look more like what people use for large amount of snakes to be cost and size efficient.

I am going to trade my blizzard for two boas though, can you recommend how I should set up some tubs for them?

Re: need advice

As stated above listen to us not the pet store people.
Look at a heat source with a thermosta. If $150 for that is too much to soend either get a corn like said above or wait. People will tell you it's not nesessary but it is. A heat mat without a thermostat can cook your snake like a fine grill if it messes up. A tub as also stated above is great for a ball python. My advice to you is to never go back to the pet store. Post where you live and let us recomend you a breeder. You will get a higher quality snake at a better price. Seriously.

They also might be able to find a corn or ball somewhere in their area (depending where they are) that people decided they didn't want after buying them. Would be worth looking around for rescues or posts on Facebook or wherever.

What I recommend is you get out of the herp hobby. I honestly can't believe you are trading off a snake with mites.

Mites are gone, haven't seen a trace of them. I've soaked him for 20 minutes every other day and still no mites. The person I am trading knows that the snake had mites and he's a reputable breeder in my area.

You do realize they are animals and not trading cards right?

Out of curiosity what does this guy breed?

Out of curiosity, is this the same snake you traded your other snake for that you're now going to trade for two other snakes?

I originally only got the snake as an adoption from someone who couldn't take care of her. I never intended on keeping her long term but besides that people trade snakes all the time, I'm not the first.

He breeds kenyans, corns, leopard/pictus/crested geckos, ball pythons, rough scaled sands, hognoses, kings and brb's

@Embrace, no this is a king I picked up a few months back because the owner couldn't take care of it.

Forget it maggot. He has all of the answers. He is infallible.

@ Corey

Pretty slick pal. You took in a free snake then traded it off for your gain? Impressive. Really impressive.
