Re: Some Striped Lampropeltis

Cool, I am really surprised that there isn't more line bred traits in GBK's. I know Jason Nelson works with the long blotched but he hasn't produced anything from that line in 2 years.

Re: Some Striped Lampropeltis

All their traits are line bred by Mother Nature....That's why each locale has a different phenotype or set of phenotypes......

They are almost as variable as thayeri......

Re: Some Striped Lampropeltis

I've been following a lot of the patterning on the Lampropeltis here in the UK. Mainly looking at the Leonis, Ruthens, alterna and similar - but now I'm just totally blown away by the diversity this one thread has shown. I'm no big breeder or anything and the interest is purely for my own pleasure and copy/pasting images for my own private file etc. WOW - that coffery is something delightfully new to say the least. I love gazing at Pete Q's posts on the UK Forum and I'm pleased to read the international correspondence here. Posts like these just make the internet worth while.

Thanks for sharing. K.

I know, from everything I have found about them almost all the ruthveni from the aberrant line are mostly possible hets for amel. Shannon and Justin both bred them with hets and amels to produce the aberrant amels. I hope he is, but for sure don't go by one clutch, I didn't prove out my other possible het until this year but the male was also possible and I proved him out last year. So it is pretty cool that I wound up with all hets....Liking that. Now all I have to do is breed the male back to this girl and see what pops out. (2014 breeding)

It's definitely a neat project as you just never know what is coming out of those eggs. Not a real predictable gene, maybe in a few years from refining. Not many working with them either. John L., a gentleman in Utah, and myself as far as I know.
