mambas are cool, the girl we have at the shop is a real sweet heart, I am sure you could free handle her with no problem, however we NEVER do of course

Beautiful! Do you house him with his girls or are they each housed separately?

Re: Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)

I wish i could have hots someday. I am such a klutz, and i am just not that alert or careful. Well, actually i am very attuned to my animals...i just don't know that i trust myself that much.

I bet that snake has some REAL personality. I have heard mombas are almost more than a snake.

Re: Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)

I got to see several of these first hand a few days ago (depending on when you're reading this...) and what you said about very calm and seemingly calculating is 100% spot on. Amazing snakes. Surprisingly docile too from what the handler was telling me. His have taken to captivity well. The female is a bit of a grump but the 2 males he said were relatively "tame".

Re: Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)

I doubt I could ever consider a mamba "tame"....they are neat, but the thought of what their venom can do just scares me. Their faces also look to me like they are grinning....an evil grin, lol. I would love to have Jameson's mambas someday but doubt my fiance will ever let me. He's nervous enough with the cobra. I love pictures though!

That sounds amazing- you should get a few pictures of her. I love the mamba face- it looks like they are leering when they open their mouths because of the really long face.

Re: Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)

Awesome pics as always. These make me think of the scene in Kill Bill 2 where Elle Driver uses a black mamba to kill Bill's brother and she reads off her notepad how dangerous they are.

Re: Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)

I love black snakes. that mamba is gorgeous, I'd never want to even risk getting bit by one though.

Heres a question out of the air.. How much does anti-venom for a black mamba cost? I'd imagine you arent banking on making it to a hospital in time if anybody got tagged by one..
