From what I understand, handling them stresses them out and I dont want that. I dont mind the biting so much. Ive been tagged numerous times by my Macks when they were babies and even Ramón when I tried to help him shed. Snake bites dont really hurt. They startle more than anything. Oh yeah, and they bleed a lot but thats ok with me. I just dont want to stress the snake out and if theyre prone to that, then Im not going there.

Amazons are definitely more handleable than emeralds and green trees, but less so than the snakes that you keep. A good handling schedule would be once or twice a week, three times if you keep handling periods short.

Re: Mr. Crowley: Upate and Pics

Another thing too. Dont they like to perch on branches? I know that sounds like an obvious question but it leads me to another thing. I have no arboreal vivs. Most of my snakes are in racks and I dont see an Amazon doing well without any branches to perch onto.

Yes, they are arboreal. They would do very well in a nice display enclosure.

Re: Mr. Crowley: Upate and Pics

thanks he's really amazing ATBs are so unique no 2 ever look alike. They also change their patterns as they grow. They have a more curious disposition than GTPs but have the same bitey attitude

I have to agree. This is one instance in keeping snakes when a schedule would likely prove beneficial. A handling schedule.

While snakes aren't she most intelligent pets, they can certainly learn routines - something like Okay, it's cleaning time so you're coming out and staying with me while I do that whether you like it or not type idea. One is bound to take a few hits, but eventually they realize biting isn't having the desired effect of making their molester put them down and they often stop after they figure that out.

Of course, there's nothing saying it'll ever get over it's attitude, but it's good if it can learn the desired behaviour during the short times it's necessary to interact with it.

My brongs don't particularly like interaction, but they tolerate the short times they are out dirtying their tubs because they've learned the routine that goes with that particular event. When I want to take them out for no particular reason, I use a different approach so they have a chance at that point to let me know if they're up for it, as opposed to having to submit out of necessity. It's a delicate balance, but it can be done

I laughed at molester....

I've started with touching, just with the tip of my fingers so he gets used to the contact as soon as you try and get him out he stresses. He IS getting more brazen though which is good hes not shying away

Re: Mr. Crowley: Upate and Pics

I can imagine! He very much likes being left alone in his translucent slightly opaque tub.
