I could smell that as I'm thinking about it and it smells soooo goood!
lol

I'm definitely going to stop using Febreeze and try and get everyone in the house to do the same as with any other chemicals for ours and the animals sakes.
Thanks everyone, Vlad seems to be doing great so far, luckily I got him out of there soon enough, poor thing probably had no idea what hit him.
I'm about to go to the pet store and get a baby rat or 2. I'm nervous though, for 2 reasons, he won't eat the baby rat, or that it's going to steal my heart. I might end up getting another one just in case one happens to do so. lol

I think Wayne was saying you shouldn't bother going to a vet unless he has definite problems because if you do it could make more problems than it will fix.

Oh okay, well I could wait then because he is doing fine now from what I can tell.

My guess is you just pissed him off a lot and will be fine. If he wasn't exposed to it for a long period of time or if you haven't sprayed him a few times don't stress it. Just do NOT make the mistake again.

unless he starts to act different, which imo he would have done long before now, then i would just leave him be

when a snake gets exposed to poisonus fumes they usually thrash about showing neurological symptoms

i honestly think you got away with it this time and your snakes ok

I agree with Shaun, you would definitely see the affect of chemicals on your snake. I won't say any names, but my sister went into a local reptile pet shop, got really freaked out when she saw a bunch of snakes that looked like they were having seizures....she said it was awful. She asked the lady (co-owner) running the shop what was wrong with them.....I believe her exact works were...Oh My God......what the hell is going on with those poor snakes? Are they dying.......is there someone here that can help them? The lady said it was nothing to worry about. Her husband had treated them for mites and they always act like that after getting sprayed. She went on to say that the ones not showing any effects were used to the mite treatment and these would be fine too. My sis left and called me and I said told her that was not normal and that most of those snakes would probably die. Sure enough we heard from a guy that had purchased a snake from them that at least 9 had already died. I'm sure a lot more did after that. What sucks is this guy, the owner of the store, has been working with snakes for over 15 years and is supposed to be an "expert". Made me sick!

Anyways, better fabreeze than bleach or something extremely harsh.....sounds like he is going to be just fine!!!

Good job getting him right. I would guess that if you let him be for a couple of days he might be ready to eat for you. Good luck.

That's what i'm planning on doing. I got him some baby rats today but one of them keeps sneezing so I might keep it. I don't want to feed a sick rat to my snake. lol
I was going to try feeding him tonight, should I wait?

Re: I'm so stupid!!!! I neeeeed help!

IMHO he should probably have a minimum of one week or more of no interaction other than misting/watering, checking temps, and spot cleaning if necessary. Amazons are more of a look don't touch animal, at least at first. Once he feels secure he will eat and respond accordingly. At his age and weight/size he can go quite some time without eating as long as he is well hydrated. Trying to fed him too early could keep him from settling down, and if your goal is to "tame" him, it may be counterproductive. In my experience with Amazons, this seems to work best. Just my two cents.

Also, it sounds like you're feeding him live rats. Any reason you are not trying the f/t route?

The only reason I'm trying them live first is because i'm not sure if he will take them at all. he was eating live mice before. But I plan on switching to f/t once I get him eating live.

I'll leave him alone for the rest of the week and try feeding him Friday.

Right.. Why put the snake through the additional stress of a road trip, a waiting room, poking prodding, etc.. unless necessary.
