Really? Ok I was basing it on the fact that her mom and dad are heavier then I've seen so I figured the wiggle room would have been nice but yea works for me thanks Kyle

Bcc means boa constrictor constrictor. A common boa is a colombian or costa rican boa scientific name is Boa constrictor imperator.

There are bcc Colombians as well. Bcc's are true red tails, it's almost redundant to call your bci Colombia a Colombian red tail, it mainly just used to enduce sales in pet stores. What sounds nicer?

Re: Boa Info, I've Changed my mind...

I'm was not stating that to be harsh to anyone. Bci's are more forgiving to slight temperature fluctuations, and minor husbandry issues. Bcc's become larger then the bci. Bcc's have to be fed same girth prey or smaller, they don't digest as fast as bci's and the prey will rot and cause a regurge, that also means limit The handeling. Don't get me wrong though they are so beautifulthey are also very rewarding to keep. Any one can do it with proper research.

Which becomes complicated if you don't know what you got exactly.... So what would you suggest for preventative measures

Usually you won't just run into a PURE bcc, if you do you will reconize the differences. One of mine is about to pop out of a shed, I'll post a pic to persuade the op as well.

Re: Boa Info, I've Changed my mind...

Thanks for all the info, so i will try and pick up a bci... i hope the breeder at the expo will be there with the same one i was looking at, he said it was a "silver line" something he was working on, sure it may be made up to get newbs to buy it, but it worked... she looked awesome!! very bright silver/grey with a nice bold red tail... we will see though!

Aye, unless she's really active its a bit overkill. A 5x2 would probably be about perfect. A 6x3 is typically what full grown female retics are kept in unless they're true monsters like Twinkie, Fluffy (RIP) or Harry's Medusa who are all over 20 feet long, heck they might be, I'm not sure what they're kept in, Stephen might know better than me. (typically is the key word there)

Re: Boa Info, I've Changed my mind...

no, should be about perfect, 4x2 or 5x2 unless for some reason you get a genetic freak that's either massive of puny, or its REALLY active and pushes against the sides of the enclosure.

Re: Boa Info, I've Changed my mind...

Thanks Kyle that makes sense. She seems really active now but who knows. Right now she's tiny so she's in a 2'x1 and she seems to fit nicely lots of room ro stretch she's probably little over 2ft herself just a baby but she is putting on weight
