Re: Flexwatt Sticking

I do it Mykee way and yeah he might not be Mr. friendly, but he been breeding for many, many years a know from first hand experience what he talking about. I had snake over 17 years myself. Anyone with 1/2 a brain knows better than to use aluminum tape on electrical wires. It doesn't matter if you like him or me for that matter. It all about the health and safety of YOUR SNAKE. If all your looking for is yes men try another site, because you won't find them here. If you want to listen to some dumb--s who don't know what their talking about. Then don't come crying to us when your snakes dies.

Re: Flexwatt Sticking

Who ever said i was using it on electrical wires??? Im taping the flexxwatt to the bottom of my tank. Flexwatt has about 1/4 inch or so on each side where there is nothing but plastic, so i still dont see the problem. Tape the edges of the plastic and its fine, not going over or close to anything electric.

Re: Flexwatt Sticking

Did anyone even read my last post?????? The tape is not on any wires or anything electrical. Its on plastic!!! Read!!! Plastic with tape on it has no way of harming anything, simple as that. Just because you guys have been doin it for years, dosent mean you know every single thing about everything, so give it up, stop trying to be a big shot.

Re: Flexwatt Sticking

I will not agree and say im wrong. I know two snake breeders, one has a reptile store here. They both do it the same way, they are not wrong .They are very successful, selling snakes, and keeping snakes. Still see no problem putting tape on the bare plastic part of flexwatt.

Re: Flexwatt Sticking

Well if you don't care about their opinion, why are you still posting on this thread? Just do it how you want and move on. Not being an @$$, just saying that it seems like your mind is made up, what's the point of keeping this open?

Re: Flexwatt Sticking

Basically, the aluminum tape is for HVAC applications. I agree electrical tape is not sticky enough. Nobody is saying do not use tape on the flexwatt, just not the aluminum tape. It is a conductive material, and even if you use it on the sides electricity does arc. A safer route might be masking tape, or duct tape even packing/sealing tape. Better safe than sorry wouldn't you agree?

Re: Flexwatt Sticking

tuct tape is so much more sticky that duct tape. i used duct tape to apply my heat cord and a few short weeks later the heat melted the glue enouph to make it fall off the bottom of my tank, Tuct tape on the other hand is so Good, its still on their as good as the day i used it. super sticky
