Martial Arts
F1
Super bikes
MotoX
Xgames when it's on
Lacrosse always seemed like a pointless sport to me however my better half informs me that it's pretty hardcore to play

Back in the day, you'd watch UFC and it would be a tournament, with like 30 guys coming in each with different fighting styles. You'd see broken bones, knock outs, dislocations, etc.
Now it's just 30 minutes of crotch punching, followed by a judge's decision.

have to agree with you there mate
it was much better back in ken shamrocks day when there were no gloves and head butts and hair pulling was allowed.
to me it was more of a street fight back in them days.
cheers shaun

Re: List your favorite sports
I got the DVD;s of the first 10 or so major events in the UFC - no weight classes, no gloves, no rules - it was pretty brutal! Still like the current UFC tho and alos the Ultimate fighter series is cool too.

it was nuts when they didnt have wieght classes mate
wee tiny dudes fighting big huge monster guys it was nuts .....!!!
in those days mate me at 5ft 4 could have been put in a ring with you at 6ft 8 that would be a tad crazy on my part me thinks
in those days it was just a televised street fight.
i like the ultimite fighter serious as well mate.its produced a few world champs.forrest griffin being one of my heros.man that dudes got heart.....!!!
the ufc is still worth watching imo
cheers shaun

Re: List your favorite sports
Forrest is the nuts - totally!! His final fight against (fill in name here) when he won the Ultimate Fighter is my all time greatest fight.
The first ever fight on UFC1 (from memory) was a sumo wrestler weighing 400 odd lb against a karate fighter weighing about 140lb. The sumo lost in under 10 seconds!!
Thing is nowadays there is no weight limit still - a featherweight can fight a heavyweight if they so wish (obviously no title fights) - there are a couple of light heavyweights who still fight at heavyweight without bulking up but no madness like the old days!

i think it was stefan bonnar.the fight was that good instead of handing out just one $100,000 contract he handed both them a contract.dana white attributed that fight as being the one that projected mixed martial arts into the main stream tv.
broc listner (bad spelling) has made some big news sinse he gave up all that fake wrestling crap and became a ufc fighter.he's one awsome specimen of a man that dude.....!!! he was put on this earth for the sole purpose of fighting imo.
your correct on the wieght thing too mate.bj penn while holding a world title fought one wieght up.i think it was george st pierre he fought, who also held a world title at the time.pierre is a fighting machine along with anderson silva (never been beat) those 2 will take some beating imo.they're both there for the long haul mate.
then theres good old captain america himself randy couture 46 years old and still kicking a**
its just a pity they dont show the ufc events for free on sky tv anymore.
cheers shaun

Re: List your favorite sports
On Virgin Cable TV you Get ESPN mate - all the UFC is free on there!!! Also ESPN HD is free on there if you have the HD box. The fights are awesome in HD.
Brock Lestner is a freak of nature and absolutely awesome, one of my faves in the current crop. Anderson Silva has had a couple of dodgy fights the last couple of times he fought - think people are learning how to deal with him now. And what can you say about Randy "The Natural" Couture - just frickin awesome!!!

i have hd in my living room and just a standard box in my bedroom.i'll look into espn mate.
im not up to date with the fights as ive not seen many ufc's.i think my last was ufc 92 or 95 something like that.i have seen some random stuff on ufc wired.i saw ufc 92 last night.frank meer (bad spelling) showed he is back to his best ever.he's a very strong and very very intelligent fighter that guy.poor forresrt got best of that rashid evans he's a good fighter but i dont like him.i think frank meers about to fight broc.he beat him with a heel hook the last time they fought.i think it was broc's first ufc fight though.brocs one seriously powerfull human being.
george st pierre is a fighting machine as well.
i hope i can get the tv channels you told me about as i miss the ufc.
cheers shaun

Re: List your favorite sports
If you gonna do it then do it quick mate the next big event is this weekend on ESPN!! UFC 118 - Frankie Edgar Vs BJ Penn, think Brock is fighting, think this one is also Randy vs some top level boxer who reckons UFC is easy and he can beat anyone - should be good!

ufc 118 wow man ive not seen any of them above 100.ive got a lot of catching up to do.will see the mrs as to if we can sort the channel out.

Re: List your favorite sports
Ahh Cabbage!! Shame he dont fight anymore - he was awesome!! And Tim Silva - broke his arm in a fight - ref stopped fight as he HEARD the bine snap and Tim didnt realise what had happend. Took a doctor and his coach to convince him that the arm was broken!!
As the fights are early morning (2am ish) i record them and watch them on the Sunday - should be a good one this week.
