Think of a ball in the wild, in the day there in a burrow.....no light, pitch black and at night there out, when it is pitch black out....just the moonshine....I think your ball will enjoy it

Doesn't matter to me which ones you get, either one will work well.

OK I think I will get a little taller one. My python likes to lay on the branch I put in there.

Yea, but a day and night schedule should be necessary. Just because it is dark underground doesn't mean that the Ball python doesn't realize the fact that it is Light outside of his hide. Being that Ball pythons can stress easily I could see a Ball python becoming stressed by living in a perpetual darkness. They may enjoy dark places and feel secure in them, but not having any light may confuse them. Then again, I'm just guessing and have no actual facts to back up what I'm saying.

The light debate aside, I think it definitely helps to be able to see your snake through the cage somewhat for general monitoring purposes.

the moon is a source of light therefore being a nocturnal creature does not mean it lives in a pitch black environment and as someone mentioned previously...even when hiding there is still light outside of thier burrow which they may be aware of.
I would not recommend an opaque enclosure because that would not simulate a natural environment. Just an added 2cents
