There is a mentality in Windsor where they stated that stray cats are considered to be "urban wildlife" and they live trap them and neuter them only to re-release them to live their starved disease ridden lives on the streets. I kid you not!
If your dog poops on someone's lawn and you don't pick up after them, they slap you with a fine but it is perfectly okay to shove an unwanted cat out your door so you don't have to clean the cat box anymore.
Why cat owners are not held to the same social responsibilities as a dog owner I cannot understand.

I am in a weird situation myself when it comes to cats.

I HATE outside cats. Males around here spray DIRECTLY into any open window of my home, ruining couches, and anything it lands on. The first few times extreme cleaning helped but now those things are just throw out. We now have no basement windows because they had to be boarded up. When left just closed and not covered the glass is covered with male cat spray.

This has been going on since we lived here. Two years ago or so though we came to a point where we had to let OUR cat out! It sucks. The problem is she has this mental problem. When we force her to stay in, she rips out all her hair. Drugs haven't really worked for her. Its pathetic. So I not only HATE people who allow cats outside, I AM one of them! LOL

So basically what we did is all we could, make sure she is up and up at all times on vaccinations, I also went door to door to explain the situation. This cat is female and only about 5 pounds with full body arthritis. So she doesn't cause many problems and I let people know to let us know when she did. She isn't allowed out all day and night, only a couple hours per day....They know which cat she is and so far no issue.

But it's definitly a sticky situation.

My post was ment to be sarcastic, everytime there's an animal attack the first thing mentioned is to ban them all. When what we should be doing is banning the "bad" pet owners from actually owning any animals that way there would be less attacks, but that will never happen.

Marissa you should get a Cat leash for your animal, and just let it run around the backyard, that is if you dont do so already, this will stop any problems from begining, regardless of your cats current condition, and will also stop a potential family disaster when she strays to far out onto the open road. If you think that a cat being hit by a car is a "simlm to none" chance, you may consider this... In my community their are idiots who actually think it's fun to swerve to try and HIT the cat on purpose...somthing to think about anyways... Also one of my past cats had a problem very similar to what you have stated, the solution we used? another female cat in the house actually calmed her down, and she stopped pulling her hair out, Just another thought!

She HATES other cats. I know because she hates the other two we already own! LOL. She avoids cats she doesn't know and isn't a fighter but does not appreciate any company at any time. Leashes for her have worked but unfortuantly it does nothing for her hair pulling problem. The only thing that prevents ALL hair pulling is a few free hours per week outside. Normally 15 I'd say. In the winter even. If the leash did work, it would be a lovely solution as we already have them set up for my small dog and my roomates indoor cat, who enjoys time outside now and again.

We are not ignorant to the fact she could get hit by a car, or poisoned or anything else. But we are also aware that we do not want to make her live the rest of her life so doped up just because we are afriad of that. Sometimes the dangers of the outside are outweighed by certain circumstances. Her life forced indoors is literally hell for her for some reason. She is a nervous flightly unhappy cat at all times, so I guess getting outside does something for this. And the walks probably feel good on her arthritis.

This cats case is very individual and we work closely with her vet to help her. But even he at this point is satisfied with our choice as we have tried literally all other options.
