Update

Animal control came by today to check for snakes or snake related contraband. I showed him the empty cages and he left. I go before city council on Nov. 05 2002 if anyone in the Dallas area would like to come speak or just to show support, come on down. I will post the address here soon.

Sean that is absolutely horrible, I am sitting here burning mad with a knot in my stomach! How dare these pencil pushing over zealous, religious fantatical idiots do this to you and these animals! Write your congressmen, your state senate office's secretaries to make sure the 'congressmen get your letters', the legislative branch offices of your state, get an attorney and fight. Write and call all the media branches, surely you have a news channel that does 'troubleshooting', call them get attention. Call the radio stations, as someone else mentioned the herpetological society for your area, any herp vets that you can contact and any universities that offer a herpetological program and keep writing and calling Sean. I'm going to look for some resources for you now. I'll get them on here as soon as I can.

Thank you guys for your support! We were on TV down here last week. Our local papar (the Dallas Morning News) is going to run a story as well. In the meantime I have opened the rescue back up. I will try and connect the people that are giving up their animals with the adoptive keepers directly to avoid having to keep them here. (for now) I am also still going to fight this until they get sick of hearing from me. Just thought I would give y'all an update.
Tay thank you for the link, and I love your forums! Keep it up.
Sean

Hey Sean, where are your snakes right now? They didn't take them yet, did they? I hope you pulled a few tricks out of your sleeves.....

Keep us posted.

Wow that sucks... the law itself is of course stupid (same here in Saskatchewan... no boas or pythons because when making animal control laws, someone was too lazy (or ignorant) to bother to differentiate between the giant members of the boas and pythons and the smaller harmless ones... but, we can keep crocodillians! apparently they pose less danger than a ball python )... but it's ALSO stupid how it's never public knowledge what you can and can't keep... seems like half the time when there is a bylaw or whatever, people have to find out the hard way. It's a sh***y thing to find out after moving somewhere... since it of course MUST be your fault for not knowing Even though half the time the people who are supposed to know what you can and can't have, don't.
Really sucks, good luck fighting it!

Write, call or email government officials who are up for re-election. I've had mountains moved from guys behind in the polls a couple of times!!

Good luck and post absolutely ANY news, no matter how small. We are all pulling for you.
