Well if you think your going to get out with this!!! Guys, let's BLAST him with kind words and compliments!! What do you think of that, Tony??? Your cages are simply wonderfull and i would have absolutely no problem putting one of these in my living room beside a nice, tall plant! I really like the color too, perhaps i should build furniture like this too, it would make it easier for my parents to accept tons of snakes in the place... If i were german, i would have a single word for your work, Tony : Wunderbar!

Question: If you coat the inside of a wooden enclosure with polyurethane, how long do you have to wait before you put your herp inside? Bc nobody wants to gas their herp..... This is assuming good circulation (finished enclosure sitting outdoors, plexiglass and top not attached yet to maximize circulation).

What is the point of coating the wood with polyurethane?? Does it keep the humidity fro rotting the wood??

EVERYONE:

Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it.

BISTROBOB:

Man you funny, and thank you.

TEXAS AGGIE:

When I built these cages I had a triple garage to work in and make them all. Pretty much did each step on each unit and moved into the next step and so on. As for painting and coating I did everything step by step again and let each coat dry 24 hours each, some might say not needed but I was not in any hurry to finish so waiting a day each coat was good for me. Once everything was painted and coated I washed everything in liquid dish soap and warm water and then let dry for 5 days. If I still smelled anything I repeated that process again on that unit. I only put boids in these cages about 3 months later, moving them up from there plastic rubbermaids. But I feel after a week of airing out they were safe. Again this is alot of work even if only 1 unit was built but I really wanted that furniture look and the work was my passion. Hope this all helps.........PS........the washing process I do recommend it is only a few minutes and helps the final process.

Cya...

Tony
