It would be great IF folks could find a decent place to get husbandry/care sheets. I have noticed a Google search will end up with about 70% of the results being MK sheets or links to her site, and to me it be a scary thing indeed.
To this day I will never understand why folks even suggest that the information she gives is worth a bean. Not only that, but even her 'conservation' pages, they filled with changed information. I know of a guy here in AZ that is very upset that she used him in referance to hunting and collecting herps from he wild, by using his information as a way to push her self-motivated quest to end the keeping of herps. Honestly, that is just messed up. I have no clue why that she gets the following she does. It is a very sad case of why I cannot stand people like her.
Excuse me if i seem rude and not so polite, but I have a great deep down burning feeeling of disappointment from folks like her that disguise themselves as a helpful person, only to use lies and misleading facts to push their own self driven and pointless desires. Not very cool if you ask me.

Kara probably changed it when they changed over to the new format (which is awesome eh?!!). Good to see.
A little off topic, but the Ball mutation page that Kara and Kevin have cooked up is just DYNAMITE! Gets my juices flowing if you know what I mean!

Okay I'm confused. I thought Melissa Kaplan was supposed to give great advice? I bought her *Iguanas of Dummies* from a used bookstore and I thought it was pretty concise. (I don't own an iguana btw).
Is everyone just referring to her snake care sheets or her research as a whole?

MK is a very controversial figure in the ig world and some of her advice has proven fatal.

The diet she recommends is just silly. Not dangerous from what I know, just stupid. She encourages the use of "space waster" veggies/foods in her diet, she encourages supplementation. Now, not saying I am against it but another iguana diet, the Iguana Den Diet uses foods and certain veggies/fruits etc to ensure all vitamins are there. Roxy only gets any "powder" anything when she is gravid. Doing GREAT!
But yeah lots of bad stuff about her, hardly any good.

I really don't have too much of a beef with her diet plan. So many of the igs that come into Penn for bloodwork get either the MK or the Iguana Den diets. If you don't have a chart in front of you and just look at the metabolic profiles and nutrition analyses from the bloodwork you really can't tell which ig had which diet.
But she's got lots of health and husbandry advice that I feel is just plain dangerous and have seen a lot of sick or dead igs whose owners are clutching their yellow and black book when they bring them into the clinic.

If it was an actual husbandry question, believe me, it would have been answered. I have been here since the beginning and I haven't seen one legit husbandry questions go without getting some sort of an answer.
And after reading MK's caresheets back in the day, I wouldn't look to her or those sheets for advice. No way. But, just my opinion. Everyone has the right to do whatever they choose. The crappy part however, is that the animals aren't so lucky.
They have NO choice.

AAACCCCKKKK That woman's names makes my animals want to puke. However my Iguanas do enjoy reading her books before bedtime for a good laugh.
If you want excellent care sheets on any species try reading the scientific journals on what has been observed in WILD populations. Then learn as much as you can about the country of origin. Specifically Climate conditions and terrain conditions etc. The more you know about the animals natural habitat and conditions of it the better a keeper you will become.
As for good links to add to a page or website if that what your looking for try the different Colleges and Universities sites. Also some state DNR sites have great information. Just don't use Kaplans death for herps sheets please.
