Species is Rhineura floridana. Yes, an air breather. No external eye or ear openings. Lays 1-3 eggs in summer, hatch in early fall. A burrower. Lives underground searching for earthworms and termites. Mockingbirds ocasionally unearth a worm lizard while searching for earthworms. *Taken from The Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Reptiles and Amphibians*
