Stuck in northern Canada there isn't much of a selection for bedding, I liked newspaper but it's aesthetically not that great.. I now use a combo of astro turf/Aspen bedding as well .. both work well and are easy to clean. I really liked Jeff's idea for water under the aboreals and think thats worth giving a go..Tks Jeff, I use a small amount of baking soda in the corners of all the tanks odor has never been a problem and as long as you spot clean the Aspen it lasts for quite a while. I painted the bottoms of all the tanks with fiberglass resin, mixed to color.. this works excellent, isn't affected by the UTH and is water proof and easy to scrub up and doesn't peel like paint (a job to be done outside as fumes are strong). cheers

For my Red-Tail Boa I use small pebbles because they absorb the heat pretty well and always stay pretty warm. I use ground up walnut shells for my Bearded Dragon b/c it keeps the smell down better than any other substrate and is easy to clean. I use aspen for my cornsnake b/c that is waht the breeder told me to use. For my Speckled Kingsnake I use Newspaper b/c he likes it he likes to go under the newspaper and hide.
