If it isn't hurting the animal I see no problem with dressing them up. I don't dress mine up, but I do find it cute rotfl.
Now when we were kids we use to dress our dog up all the time. Poor dog lol, and he took it all in stride

I find dressed snakes super cute.. i get what you mean MTD.. i cant stand when some tell me something is cute when it was not the idea.. but sometimes.. bad *** needs a little cuteness.. I dressed Hercules (BP) as an elf for Christmas.. could not get the hat on.. but my hand-made green and white sweater yes.. it was adorable for the kids.. they found him less menacing for there first interaction with him..
I only did it for Christmas.. and to have a cute photo with my boy.. but i like to take bad-*** photos most of the time.. So my final opinion is that depends on the snake.. and also maybe the moment.. besides.. who dosnt like a little laugh or a cuteee moment
PS.. cant post the photos cos my phone is broke.. but will do XD I wanted to wish everyone mery Christmas here with are cute photo.. another reason why i dressed him up.. cheers!
