Re: Trans Pecos Rats
this is the mod I did to his enclosure. The mesh is pet screen from Home Depot, the kind you replace your screen door with when you have jumpy dogs. its easier to rub against than the wire screens they have. Its some kinda coated mesh stuff.

Re: Trans Pecos Rats
That would help,I would only worry if it knocked over its water dish.

Re: Trans Pecos Rats
Yeah he has a supper small water dish like the size of a mason jar lid. He still hasn't eaten for me though. I even tried the cut the pinks head open and he did not seem interested one bit. Temps are good running 80-85 hot side and a little warmer on the cool side about 73-80 cool depending on my houses temperature also. We are battling RI so that's the reason for the warmer temps and I know snakes generally won't eat when they have RI, it's just that he is still pretty active even with the RI. I just figured he would be able and want to down a small pink. I am more than likely being overly worried about the whole thing of him not eating. I just think he would show a little interest maybe.

Re: Trans Pecos Rats
He looks like he will be ok to miss a few meals . I know exactly how you feel though. I've got a couple snakes that go off feed for a while and I don't worry about it all. BUT, when I've got a new snake that hasn't eaten for me yet, I get nervous. I know that snakes can go a long time without food, but when its a new snake I always have to wonder how long its really been since its eaten.

Re: Trans Pecos Rats
Seriously, and it sucks cause the guy I got him from at the expo who got him from another person at an expo the weekend before. So I'm pretty positive its been two weeks of him not eating cause I have heard they usually don't feed their snakes when on the road. I'm just hoping he did though in the middle of the week sometime. Who knows? :\

Re: Trans Pecos Rats
Well Hawk is doing a lot better he was super active in his tub last night just cruising around and exploring. I decided to try and feed him again with no such luck. He did seem a little interested in it this time then decided to keep cruising. I think I'm going to try a live pink today if they have any at the local herp store. The RI seems to be clearing up so that's good.
