Yeah, thanks I finally arrived at that conclusion! This LED stuff is way cool!

Re: Smd 3528 8mm connector ?

I think something like this would work great for connecting to IR controller boxes.

HitLights Strip-to-Control Receiver Connector For Multicolor Changing LED Strip Lights - Amazon.com

HitLights LED Strip-to-Remote Control Receiver Connector - SMD 5050 And SMD 3528 (3-Color) - 4 pack

Glad to see that you are figuring it all out!

I would've helped sooner but this week we had all kinds of electrical issues in the office at work, just settling down now

Would love to see some pics of the enclosures with the lighting installed!

I got my lights in last weekend, still venting out the fumes for another week or so (luckily my BP is in a suitable home for adulthood, just needed to get him out of the glass tank and into a real home )

Best of luck! If you need any more help with lights PM me, but it looks like Formica has this on lock down !

Np, I have been enjoying researching the LED stuff. So many different ways to get the same end results. You just have to pick which connectors you want and go with them. I will try to post some pics of the enclosures. I only have one 3528 rgb strip in each one for now. I have to use up all my extra led strip lol thanks!

Here is a closeup of my MBK's t10 with one 3528 Led strip white at full brightness. I will try to get some more pics later.

nice! hope your MBK loves his lights! my rainbows seem to prefer ours at the extreme low levels...going to experiment with the different colors to see if they respond better to certain tones, etc...Iris has been out exploring her new enclosure quite a bit...Hades has been in shed so he is tucked in his hides (back and forth between warm and cool)...but he doesn't burrow like he used to...so I think he likes the space, even though he is "blind"..

Led lights are so cool! I have been experimenting with different colors and brightness settings. My MBK and Black Milk don't seem to notice lol I love the way the enclosures look with blue and violet hues.

Re: Smd 3528 8mm connector ?

i have noticed with the very low blue lights (moonlight, almost) Iris tends to still venture her head out...she is still exploring...she has definitely been out and about a LOT more in the new enclosures, hubby peeks into the room during the night when he gets up to go to the bathroom, etc...I have only caught her out twice....I go to work at midnight, so its RIGHT before work that I catch her...she is definitely a night owl! LOL

Re: Smd 3528 8mm connector ?

Nice setup.
I really like the look of a cage with the white light. The great thing about the led's is they can be cut to any length to spread the light evenly across the enclosure. The different colors are an interesting element.

Going back to the automated climate control discussion, a simple program could provide a full 24 hr simulated light source. Even different phases of the moon light and varying daylight depending on weather with more advanced programs.

Thanks Larry, yeah I'm waiting on the hardware/software for that kind of control. I really like your reptile room and enclosures! Very inspiring!

Re: Smd 3528 8mm connector ?

One small issue with ap enclosures, the 3m adhesive doesn't hold for long. Used some hot glue at few spots on the back of led strips to keep the straps attached to ceiling of enclosures.

Easy enough to do with something like Arduino, a (fairly cheap) programmable microchip with a vast array of input/output additions, and loads of GNU (ie free) software solutions which can easily be uploaded to the boards memory

For sure, one of my developer coworkers has been playing with the arduino stuff.

might be worth mentioning that a pulsed thermostat is simply a Voltage Controller Square Wave generator, and a Dimmer is just a voltage controlled amplifier....very simple to build, although the mains voltage relays require some care of course, and calibration can be a little tricky - incase he's got any interest in reptile equipment
