Re: Where did Ambers' shed go?
Amber shed today, at about 1:00. This morning, I put a wet towel over top of tank and have been misting it (and her) a lot. I didn't feel the need to soak her but kept her tank misted. I watched the whole process (for the first time) and it was very interesting. The shed came off all in one piece. I haven't had any problems for any reason with this snake which is really nice. It's interesting to learn the technical aspects of why this milkiness comes then goes before they shed.

Re: Where did Ambers' shed go?
When I first got my snake when I was an 11 year old kid, this used to confuse me all the time but eventually I learned that snakes do this lol.

Re: Where did Ambers' shed go?
Soaking can have the opposite affect on the ability to shed and make it more difficult for the snake. I have never soaked or sprayed any of my snakes to encourage shedding. Make sure the humidity is correct and be patient.

Re: Where did Ambers' shed go?
Glad she shed well for you! Do you have any pictures with her 'new' skin?

always check their shed to make sure the eye caps have shed, also check the tip of the tail has shed completely
retained shed on a tail tip can restrict blood circulation, sometimes causing the tip to die and drop off
if the shed you inspect is complete, then you know you have no worries, you can also check the snake itself to make sure there is no retained shed
cheers shaun

I'm a slow learner! I always check to make sure all of the shed is off though - I check her fully every few days anyhow. I never did have to soak her and never had any problems in any way, shape or form with her (except when she was loose and ended up in the baseboard heater for a month lol)
