Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
Loki looks awesome as always Em. He's getting big now too. How many mice do you offer him per feeding? He was inhaling those things once he got going.

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
Lately, I've been giving him a couple of mice every few days. His appetite seems to be picking up though, so I might try more next feeding. I've tried all sorts of food and feeding regimes. He's finicky for an indigo.

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
Sometimes he does. I started buying all mice a couple of months ago when he was refusing a lot of meals. If he doesn't eat them, we have more snakes that I can give them to.

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
Loki is very nice! Do you ever give him snakes to chow on?

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
I've given him snakes, various birds, fish, frog legs, and chicken breast.

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
I love this thread and Loki too! Hey em, have you thought about breeding him? Also have you seen those red headed eastern indigos?

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
Thanks, Albert! Yes, I've thought about getting a female to breed. Space and money are holding me back. That, and finding an unrelated mate in the tiny captive gene pool.
I've seen some that have a lot more red than Loki. I think the ones I saw were from European breeders. Personally, I like wild-type red phase, or the "blacks" most.

Someone in the states was advertising the red head eastern indigos on fauna class. Yeah I know you are space limited and so am i. I am going to double check that ad and make sure fauna is where I saw it.

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
As I stated in another thread, we just bought a new house and moved. I have my own reptile room, which is just a spare bedroom upstairs. However, after measuring and thinking about weight in an upstairs bedroom, I decided (with my wonderful wife's approval) to put Loki's enclosure downstairs in the living room. I was afraid the weight of it would cause problems upstairs, plus, it would have been nearly impossible to get up the stairs.
But, anyway, it's all set up now, and somewhat improved, I think, with the addition of the piece of driftwood. The entrance to Loki's lair is a bit more hidden now by some pants and rocks. But, it still leads to the tub in the cabinet below.
I'll post photos of my reptile room, if I ever finish getting it set up.

Re: Loki, my Eastern Indigo
His enclosure looks awesome! I can't wait to get my indigo next Saturday. I'm getting a Texas Indigo, but hope to get an Eastern someday. The guy I'm getting it from breeds Easterns as well so I'll talk to him about the permit and legalities.
