Living Gems Breeding Plans 2016
The Living Gems Reptiles breeding stable continues to grow in size and quality. Our 2014 season saw six males matched with six females, resulting in three litters totaling 39 babies. After cuts, our 2015 season saw eight males matched with eight females, resulting in three litters totaling 64 babies. After cuts, our 2016 season will see nine males matched with twelve females, six as pairs and three as trios, and will mark our largest year yet.
After much consideration, this year’s final breeding groups will be:
--Group 1: Ramses to Amber (golden orange hypo to vivid outcrossed het hypo)
--Group 2: Franklin to Jadeite (mixed orange with thick borders)
--Group 3: Ericthonius to Spessartine (high red)
--Group 4: DuVall to Nephrite (high orange)
--Group 5: Kilimanjaro to Sodalite and Uvarovite (dark red)
--Group 6: Scarface to Citrine and Aventurine (mixed orange, high orange)
--Group 7: Picasso to Tigers Eye (high contrast)
--Group 8: Ceasarion to Malachite (orange/red)
--Group 9: Prometheus to Jasper and Heliodor (mash-up)
Over the next few months, we will profile each of these groups for your viewing pleasure.
I will add links to each thread as it is posted in the “replies” area below.

Thank you, DDW! Group 2, however, may lead to great things a few generations down the line.....

Re: Living Gems Breeding Plans 2016
Cliff, have you ever worked with albinos before? Ive only seen very scant information on them, much more on the Colombians however. I find it strange there aren't too many out there.

Re: Living Gems Breeding Plans 2016
They are pretty new on the Brazilian side, and still *very* expensive. Like, last I saw over $10K apiece. At that level, you have to have no errors in keeping (it's a pricey loss!), *and* be one of the first on the market to earn your money back. Will Living Gems add them eventually? We'd love to...but not at that price.

Re: Living Gems Breeding Plans 2016
Yeah that's pretty steep for something with no inherent value. It just seems odd that they aren't more common.

Outback Reptiles had some at a recent expo here in NY. Kind of like the panda pied. The albino Brazilians were going for 12k. Cliff, you still have amazing animals that are cutting edge!

Thank you! We're trying to press the quality front as hard as we can rather than waste time on quantity.
