bamboo poles
does anyone have an idea how to get those bamboo poles that have the suction cups on the end to stick better to the glass? i have to slant the poles because my tank is too big to put them straight across. i bought the longest ones they had. macandchz loves to climb on them but they fall down with him on them and i'm afraid he may get hurt

Re: bamboo poles
Try going to Michael's craft store. They have some that are loooong. Then just get your own suction cups and use some wire to bind them together =)

Re: bamboo poles
What I do for these weak suction cups is wipe the inside of it around my nose. I'm not sure exactly how it works, something about the oils on your skin, but it does work. It just looks a little funny is all

Please post a video of this, as I am having a lot of trouble picturing this and need to see it first hand so I know what you mean...

Re: bamboo poles
Personally, I just spit on them XD
May sound gross, but it's effective!
Though using regular water wirks too.

Re: bamboo poles
I'd read it years ago in a forum, tried it, and it gave it a much better hold then regular water. Lemme see if I can dig it up.
"Specifically put nose oil - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nasal_sebum on the suction cup. You find it on your skin at the edge of your nose. Rub your nose with your fingers then rub the suction cup with your finger."
kitchen - Make suction cups suck - Lifehacks Stack Exchange
"Rub your finger on the side of your nose. It will pick up a tiny bit of facial grease. rub your finger on the suction cup to lube it. Apply the mount as normal. Being a natural grease, it will not degrade the silicone.
I have tried breathing on the cup, a small amount of spit, water, ect... and the GPS takes a nose dive every time. A little rub on the side of my nose, and it stays where I want it. A slight prying of the side of the cup breaks the seal easily."
How to make GPS Suction Cup Mounts Stick - GPS Review Forums
Edit: No one's laughing at you, and I get the feeling it has go do with what I said and I assure you I'm trying to offer serious suggestions. I do this all the time and it works, better than simply getting it wet in my experience. We're more than happy to help you though, but no one's trying to make a mockery out of your situation

Re: bamboo poles
Nobody is making a mockery of your question at all macandchz...I actually just wanted to see a video of what Tiny Boidae was saying because it sounds hilarious...but it does work. There's nothing wrong with having a little fun while learning, is there?

Re: bamboo poles
no, i guess not. sorry i was so touchy but i'm upset about how that salesman yesterday fed me that bull about mice-see my post about how to kill a mouse humanely-the last few entries- and you'll see what i mean. when you are new at snakes you believe what people tell you. i couldn't tell a golden boa from a purple one. and i really thought maybe the spca or somebody was cracking down on people buying live mice. but thanks to tiny boidae i called petco and they said ther's no problem buying them. sorry i can't show you a picture of my tank since i have the world's oldest computer. thanks, andy g.
