Re: sand boa advice from real owners

I just got a 6 month old Indian sand boa. He's about a foot long. I keep him in a 10 gallon tank, with two UTH on each side, one set at 90 and the other set to 80.

I use real sand as my substrate, which he seems to really like. He has a hide in there and a branch for decoration and a water dish that I keep over the small area with no heat pad. He basically spends 23:58 hours a day buried in the sand so it looks like my tank is always empty. But I've still only had him a couple weeks and we had to move shortly after I got him so he's been under some stress and he's still really young. I'm hoping after a few more weeks and as he gets older he'll spend a few more minutes a day above ground.

He's been really great the few times I've handled him, shows zero aggression. He did musk me a couple nights ago but I was stupid and tried to handle him after I had to move his tank from an apartment to our new house in the car.

I have very little experience at this point but am excited about my sand boa. I do wish I could see him a bit more though. I did set up a security camera on his tank that sends me notifications when there's movements, so in the morning I can watch his activity from the night before.

That's awesome. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it
