Birds for my boa
Hi everybody, I'd like to change my boa's diet a bit, just to be sure she gets all that she needs. Some say they feed on small reptiles and even fishes, personally I just saw them eating birds in the wild... what kind of local bird could I use?
I heard they appreciate a lot quails and chickens but they told me this isn't the right period for hatchlings (she's too young for an adult at the moment)
Thank you.

Re: Birds for my boa
You could definitely use small quail or chickens. But I would rotate between that and rats/mice to keep it varied since young birds are higher in fat content than young rats and mice.

Re: Birds for my boa
Yes indeed, I'd like to make her exactly that kind of balanced diet. Thank you very much, it looks like there is someone who can speak English here around...

Re: Birds for my boa
You could try to find button quail for her, button quail stay extremely small at only around the size of a newly hatched chicken chick although with a ton more feathers. They are easy to breed in my experience and also quite lovely. I plan on rotating birds, mice, and rats when my Columbian rainbow boa is big enough.

Re: Birds for my boa
Then everybody should know you usually spend your time here with geko owners and sadistic pitbull feeders, before listening to your bullshits. Agreed?

Re: Birds for my boa
Update: the seller says she's too young, she'll be able to taste birds in a year or so.

Re: Birds for my boa
Eh, I've never heard of "too young". Did she give you any reason besides her age? Sounds like garbage advice to me.

Agreed, If she is big enough to eat it then go for it.

Re: Birds for my boa
Akuma, why don't you share your insults towards me with the other members? Going pvt is for pussies, did you know?
It's the first time I hear this as well, I adopt this kind of reasoning when dealing with sellers: are they just trying to sell you something? Not in this case, she sounds sincere.

Going private with insults sounds like a good idea. This is a family friendly forum.

And children are the best flamers around. Something's terribly wrong. I came here with the best intentions, this is just the result of your warm welcome. You want war, you got it.
