Help immediately!!!!
So Shirley Temple, my baby garter snake will not eat! The first day I got them I put a peice of thawed tuna in their bowl. Neither of them ate it so I switched to peices of nightcrawlers. Marilyn Monroe, the bigger one eats them like a pro! But Shirley won't even touch them. I've tried whole, waving them near her, taking Marilyn out, feeding her outside the cage. I don't want her to die and they seem to small to eat pinkies. I don't know how to scent the food so please let me know or if u have any suggestions! this is my first snake ever!

Re: Help immediately!!!!
I don't know! I have so many questions that the Internet can't answer. I feel terrible because I currently have no source of heating for them and it gets 5 degrees at night here in Colorado. when should they shed? I got them the 12th of January this year and haven't shedded? Shirley likes to hide all the time and only comes out a 5:00 in the morning and at night. Please if u can answer all of my questions do so. I really am concerned about the heating, how long will they last without it and how many watts?

You can use a small heat pad or a 25w-50w heat lamp. They don't really need heat as much as other reptiles do. A small hot spot would do great. If you keep a warm side of the tank at least 80f, that should be perfect.
As far as shedding, it depends. Feeding nightcrawlers and fish, it won't grow as fast so I wouldn't expect shedding as often as it would be on a rodent diet. Age is also another factor as they grow and get older, they shed less often.

Re: Help immediately!!!!
I lock stubborn feeders in a small poly box with live flopping minnows.
Go to Wal mart and buy some small Rosy Reds for 28 cents each, forget about the thiaminase BS for now, getting food into the snake is more important than worrying about long term effects of Rosy reds.
