Corn Snake Pictures

Hey, everyone. As I posted earlier, my friend had found an escapee corn snake, and brought it to my house. Everyone around here's like 'oh yeah! let's bring it to the weird kid who likes snakes!' lol So he's doing a lot better. He tried to tag me the first time I held him. poor thing was so scared... I just held him again to inspect his body for health issues. Mites, broken scales, scale rot etc, etc. He's 100% healthy as far as one could tell by looking at him. He was super calm when I handled him then. He wasn't still as a rock, as a scared snake might be, and he wasn't impossible to handle. He didn't strike at me, he was an angel! Anyways, the previous post was about housing, however, I 'googled'/'youtubed' for a minute and found the answers I needed. Now I decided I'd upload a few photos of the cute little guy! BTW... I do have one important question; He's about three feet, and he's around 6-7 oz. is that normal/healthy? I haven't even put five minutes into researching these guys before because I never thought I'd own one. Back to the purpose of the post... Here's a few photos of the beaut.

nice lookin corn, looks healthy to me, although kinda hard to tell from the fuzzy pics - needs a better place to hide than that red box tho, a card board box will do for now while u sort a better setup, something which provides a proper dark space thats nice and tight for him to curl up in

Looks healthy enough, make sure it has two hides tho

Thanks, man! I only have it like that for now. I am not moving anything for a few days because he/she's already pretty stressed. I don't even think he/she can fit into that red hide lol I am in the process of converting a dresser into a snake rack. I have showed a couple buddies with pro snake racks and they said the plastic utility shelf/dresser I have should be just fine to use as a rack. So I will try to get that set up, and move him into there along with my Ball Python.

Thanks, man! This is just temporary. I didn't know my friend was going to bring this little guy over here so I had no preparation. So once he's settled in, I am going to put him in a homemade snake rack (when it's ready). Btw there's another hide on the other side, and it's not see through like that red one.

He should be quarantined for a minimum of six months before being any where near your current snakes

I know. My Ball Python is in my living room, and he's in my room. So we're good. I am going to try and take him to the vet for a check up, so I know he's healthy, and safe... If I can afford it.

the red box isnt offering any security at all, and thats what he needs right now - you'll be suprised the tiny spaces a snake can squeeze itself into

use something that isnt transparent, or fill the red box with shredded paper, anything to block out the light and fill the space a bit, to give him some security

Thanks again, man. He's got a white one that's not see through on the other side of the tank. I'll replace the red one tomorrow. It's 3:54 AM here so I don't really have the energy to find something else to use as a hide, right now lol

I would put some paper towel or newspaper in there.

I am going to. Again... I got this guy without notice and I'm trying to let him get used to his new environment, so I am not really changing anything for a day or two. I tried to feed him today and without any hesitation he struck, constricted, and ate a mouse. It was pretty awesome how he wasn't all scared like most new snakes.

It's going to be all the same whether you put in towel now or later. He will still need to get used to it. You wouldn't want him getting used to the glass and then suddenly switch to paper.

Glad he ate for you. It's always a relief when new snakes eat readily. It takes away the worry.

Yes it does lol and I am going to get some paper towels in there like right now. You've got a good point on letting him get used to glass and then switching. BTW I have Reptibark and paper towels.. which are better?
