yup. he hisses when i pet him, hisses when i open his cage, hisses when he moves...and none of it is aggressive. he just...does!

Your boy seems like the complete opposite of my girl. I've never heard Esmeralda hiss, but she bites. Goes for the face too.

They will do when they want to be left alone, some are just quite vocal anyway, my bigger tiger female always has a slight hiss when she is out, but apart from when she is gravid she never strikes. They do tend to have more of a bite first hiss later response then burms or boas though.
