Green breeder

Might you be more inclined to purchase from a breeder whose animals are cared for using "green energy?"

I want to heat my snake house with water heated and transferred using solar power, maybe wind energy, etc.?

Thoughts?

(Yes, obviously the animals are top-of-the-line, healthy, etc.)

Re: Green breeder

Honestly I couldn't care less Roy. Besides most use low wattage heat tape .

Re: Green breeder

I am going that direction myself, but mostly because I hate the utility companies.

Re: Green breeder

Personally if all other factors were identical i would go for the "green" one but apart from that i would go for the snake i like best

Honestly It has never crossed my mind. Your question reminded me of that commercial where that guy asks, "Does your cauliflower have a large carbon footprint?"

Re: Green breeder

It's pretty good already in our industry so I don't see how it will continue to change so much.

As stated, I use a low watt heat tape with a thermostat to keep all power costs down.

Re: Green breeder

I don't know what I'm doing differently... Our electric bill is $350-400/mo. Most snakes are in tubs on heat tape on a thermostat .. in o e 80° room. There's an oil space heater in the room, but it's not on much at all.

With seven vivs in our living room that isnt temperature comtrolled our bill for the whole household is £70/month for a three bedroom house (with a daughter who leaves lights on constantly )

Re: Green breeder

Marcy is by far the worst offender of leaving lights on in the house! Does that have anything to do with it? :-\

Re: Green breeder

It obviously doesnt help but there are lots of considerations - size of house, how well imsulated, number of vivs, number of people, amount of stuff left on standby etc etc etc

Re: Green breeder

Yeah, we plan to downsizing really soon, which gave me the idea.

OK, so, for this scenario, there are 2 snakes available, same price, both triple-gene whatever you like, same price.. Would you take the one from the new guy that uses "green" energy, or the guy you you've seen ant the last couple expos?

Re: Green breeder

For me it depends on the old timers reputation. If its good I would go with the know. If its mediocre I would debate. Anything less and I will try something new.
