Re: Humidity
Why not change the substrate?
Other suggestions:
Mist the cage with water.
Make sure the top is not a screen/mesh lid; if so, use saran wrap, towels, or cover it with a solid material (i.e. melamine) made to fit 2/3 of the top.
If your heat source is from above, place the water bowl below it.

Re: Humidity
I'm confused. You don't want to change the substrate because you feed her in her tank?
Also, you should consider upgrading her to a real nice boaphile (or similar) enclosure some day to really spoil her
These are mine:
These things hold humidity reeeeeaelly nicely!!

They both have flex watt heat tape hooked to a thermostat. They are from Boaphile Plastics: Here's a link to their website.
They came completely assembled in one piece. Just plugged the heat mats into the thermostat, the thermostat into the wall, and I was set to go!

Yes, Kaybe is an adult and he's in there, and that is Pika's permanent home too.
They are each 36"x24"x11.5" (cage 321D)

Feed her prey on a plate if you're really worried. Or dry the rat with a hairdryer if it's wet (that's what I do; takes 2-3mins). Little pieces of substrate aren't harmful. It's large pieces and amounts that are worrisome.

Re: Humidity
That's a pretty slick enclosure Alessia!
So you are able to maintain ambiant temps with just the heat tape? What size heat tape?
Also, how are you lighting the interior?

Yes, the heat tape is all I need there. The lighting is on the inside; it's a fluorescent light that the company installed for me (Boaphile Plastics). I rarely have it on except for when I have friends who want to see them, etc.
