OK here, crappy paint drawing of the trap. the pink box is the mouse, the red squiggle is the sock, the black circle are the entrance holes to the sock.

You could also put strips of packing tape sticky side up in the room you think the snake is in,at night when you go to bed.Snakes are most active at night.Snake will get stuck to the tape and you just follow the tape so to speak.If it works becareful taking the tape off.soaking in some water will help.  I used this method and worked for me quite a few years ago.

Love the drawing I use this method before on my coral snake it works pretty good
