Re: Monarch caterpillar
Great pics! Thanks for sharing. I don't actually think I've ever seen a caterpillar in the wild. Where did you find this one? In what state?

... I'm actually glad I don't... Butterflies/moths/dragonflies are my one and only true fear
Edit: When I was younger my parents decided to take me to a butterfly farm exhibition thing at a museum to "prove I was just being silly".... I fainted and had to be carried out by the security guy Ever since, I was given permission to always do PE in highschool indoors to avoid panicking in a field of dragonflies

Re: Monarch caterpillar
Wow, that sucks.
I had brontophobia (lightning) and I couldn't imagine having a phobia of dragonflies

Re: Monarch caterpillar
WOW on both of those. I don't know anything about having a fear of that sorts. I am afraid of nothing that I can think of within reason. Glad to see that you got over your fear Eli. I LOVE watching lightning storms. How did you break your fear?
Alessia, have you ever tried to face your fear in very small bits and get past it?

Yes, actually! I was put through exposure therapy at one point for several months. Unfortunately it didn't do much for me. It helped a liiiiitle bit though: If I see one at a distance, I'm OK with it. I'm just not OK with being near one. I faint, run, or have an anxiety attack. If someone put one in a jar and locked it shut really, really, tight, I'm OK looking at it through the glass Not sure where the far came from though- it's an irrational fear 100% that I've had as long as my parents and I can remember. I'm not afraid of anything else without reason.
/sorry for hijacking this thread

It just gradually faded once I got older and more educated.
I used to have to have a panic attack and lock myself in my closet with a bunch of pillows

This was photographed in Austin Texas at the Zilker Botanical Gardens. But they can be found all over.

Re: Monarch caterpillar
I used to be terrified of scorpions, so scared I would shiver when I looked at them in cages in pet stores, until a really nice guy in a Petco took one out and held it to show me it wasn't so terrible. I ended up holding the emperor scorp too, and took it home! I've since loved them.
