Looking for my first Corn

Hi there! I am looking for a breeder in my area that could help me out. I thought I wanted an Okeetee but there are so many different morphs that I have seen pics of I am honestly a little overwehlmed! How do you chose?! I would love to get a hatchling (perferably female) If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it!
Thanks

I agree, an expo would be great because then you'll get to take a look at a lot of different morphs and decide which you like. My daughter chose a normal. She just loves him.

Re: Looking for my first Corn

google triple-r corns. This lady breeds corns and ball pythons and she is located on Aldergrove. I have been to her place, everything is very clean, well set up, the snakes are in great condition. They are happy, healthy and very handleable. Most of her baby corns are under $100

I have chosen my first corn and will pick up sometime over the weekend or next week. She has many morphs to choose from and beautiful okeetee's. I chose a male blizzard.

She will be away from Aug 25-29 as she is travelling to AB for the expo

Otherwise, there is an expo coming to Abbotsford in October.

Thanks I have been talking to Rebecca at Triple r corns already. I just need to get everything together for the snake b4 I make an apt to view them... Lol I know I won't be able to leave there without one haha. Does anyone know where I'd find the best prices for a whole setup?

Buying a whole setup is expensive, it's far cheaper to get what you need by shopping around.

Corn snakes are one of the species that can be kept in an aquarium with a screen top without issues, since their humidity requirements are not even remotely critical.

I keep an adult corn in a 20 gallon long, and he does just fine in it.

The tank was on sale for $20, the screen top was another $15, and the aspen shavings were $3... I use a $1 dog food bowl for the water.

North American colubrids (Corns, milks and kings) live in a variety of climates, so keeping them is nowhere near as critical as tropical, desert or Jungle species of animals.

check out kijiji fraser valley too, there were a couple complete set ups on there last week for reasonable prices. And tons of aquariums you can purchase for cheap and set up on your own.

Re: Looking for my first Corn

Just remember, we can turn downright NASTY if someone should get a new snake and fail to post pictures of it

Good luck picking out your baby!!

Re: Looking for my first Corn

They absolutely do!! Just bear in mind, you may not always come home with what you thought you wanted at first

There was a guy here that went by Max713 who wanted a baby Jungle Carpet Python, but fell in love with an adult Coastal Carpet, so he took her home from the show. The nice, great, wonderful thing about snakes is that with proper husbandry, you're looking at 20 years + for corns, and longer for a lot of the pythons and boas.

I guess what I'm saying is, don't be afraid to take home a sub-adult or adult that you adore, just 'cause it's not a baby...you never know what may be in store, and you can always get more

Re: Looking for my first Corn

Do you mean you never know what may be in store temperment wise? I would totally get an adult if I fell in love with one... but the main reason I want to get a baby is for my son and I to be able to watch her grow together and for her to be used to kids and handleing. My friend has an okeetee and I really love her bright colors and markings... We'll see what happens when I go to a breeder to get my snake what I come home with in the end lol.

Re: Looking for my first Corn

I was sayin' in terms of one you might fall in love with

That's really a cool, great reason to want a baby, though!! The growth process is really amazing Best of luck, hope you find a great baby
