Snake Underworld!!!

Ok, so im sat at home watching a show called snake underworld on natgeowild. Its supposed to be about the american market in hots. Ive only watched 20 mins so far and the way theyve shot this is silly. Talking about hots while showing someone with a ETB (i think) on their head.
Why do most shows do this? Playing on the natural fear some people seem to have and creating paranoia on an already touchy subject... Anyway is anyone else watching/watch ws d this?.

I wouldnt be too surprised either to be honest. But its the conflicting laws from state to state in America that makes it easier. Over here its one set of laws, but I bet theres still a few illigal owners.

Re: Snake Underworld!!!

I dun have Nat Geo Wild but I wish I did. Also the media always capitalizes on peoples fears/phobias because it sells. So if channels wants ratings...make a show about the fear of something. Animal Planet has "I was Bitten", "Infestation", "I Shouldn't Be Alive"....sure you could easily name some more from other channels.

Re: Snake Underworld!!!

Lol I understand that fear sells.. But why not make a show about the hobby itself, in detail and show the truth. Surely that would be popular amongst herp keepers and the general public alike.

Re: Snake Underworld!!!

do you mean like the program, reptiles in essex, or something like that, it was a show that capitalized on the animals rather than the fear behind them

Re: Snake Underworld!!!

Trouble is the type of peoplevthat want to show off their collections tend not to be the best advert for our hobby, Essex Jungle is case i point, pretty muc all the keepers on tere were extroverts at the extreme of our hobby imo.

AP actually has a program about a couple imbeciles who are trying to find Bigfoot. Nat Geo is a little better about snakes, but not much. They are all pushing the anti-exotic pet agenda.
