funny story, the pepsi-can poltergeist
Seeing Wayne's little salamander made me think of a funny story to share.
A few weeks back I heard a pepsi can roll under the bed. (me and my fiance have a habit of placing empties next to the bed at night and then tossing them the next day). It freaked me out, I thought maybe I was hearing things, sat quiet a minute, and then I heard it again! It kept getting louder and louder, and finally bashed into the wall. I woke up Bryan and made him look because I was too scared LOL. He couldn't find anything, looked with a flashlight, picked up the can, and went back to sleep. A few hours later, there it was again! Well finally I got up out of bed and decided to do a head count of all the ratties. I thought for sure one had escaped and was under there hiding and running off when we shined the light. All the ratties were there. Well this kept up for a few days. I left some food out to experiment and see if it would eat, maybe I had a wild mouse or something? The food would always disappear.
Well one morning Bryan wakes me up wit a pepsi can, with a cute little nose poking out. It was a weanling ASF! When I did the headcount I didn't even think about the ASF babies because the moms had a bad run of cannibalizing them and I kept losing babies left and right. It did strike me a little odd that one baby that was weaned would be cannibalized, but I figured it had to be! Well I was wrong. The weaned one that disappeared wasn't eaten, he was an escapee living on my candy stash and pepsi!! He got named Pepsi.

Re: funny story, the pepsi-can poltergeist
hahaha, that's pretty funny.
when i was a kid i was eating doritos on the couch watching tv, and i fell asleep with the bag upright leaning against the couch. i woke up to some rustling in the dorito bag and was pretty confused. i turned on the light and there was a little rat inside the dorito bag munching away. i figure he must have jumped up on the couch and down into the bag because it wasn't knocked over lol.

Re: funny story, the pepsi-can poltergeist
What does ASF stand for? :c I'm assuming it's a rat, still, just curious. At any rate, both funny stories xD I would have been really freaked out by that Pepsi can... D; Pepsi is a cute name for a rat c:
And Tea, was that rat wild? o_O I'd hope you ditched the bag of Doritos after it had sat on them and began nibbling away.
I was half way expecting bugs to be in the Doritos. That happened to me once, 'cept when Cheese... Nibz or something... back when I was a little kid. Was eating them then finally noticed there were BUGS in it and I was like,"... I think I just ate bugs..." I was really hoping they were all just in the bottom of the bag 'cause I was about half way LOL

Re: funny story, the pepsi-can poltergeist
i looked ASF up the other night, it is african soft fur rats. yes the rat was wild, it got into my house, and yes i threw away the doritos after i found the rat
in another bug/pepsi related story, one night when i was a kid i fell asleep on the couch watching tv and i had a pepsi on the table. i woke up in the middle of the night and took a BIIIG sip of ANT pepsi. they were all biting my mouth like mad so it was like taking a big sip of moving burning lol. i ran to the sink and spit most of them out and rinsed my mouth out like mad. never forgot that one

Oh wow xD I can't imagine such a thing. I'm sure it was terrible. The burning thing makes me suspicious if they were just regular house ants or fire ants. Fire ants would have been really baaad D:

I would probably freak out if I drank ants. That doesn't sound like a fun surprise

Re: funny story, the pepsi-can poltergeist
Going way back some years now..
My oldest daughter (she's 27 now) had a BF named Jeremy when she was like 17, Jeremy was close to 18, I didn't like the guy much, but she thought she was in love with him... anyways.
There was a Pepsi can that he kept putting his cigarettes out in sitting on the table right next to his full can of pop, see where I am heading with this?
I watched that kid accidentally pick up the wrong can and take a big slug out of it before he realized what he just did. The faces he made were priceless. I had not laughed that hard again since, I had watery eyes from the laughter.
Had I not been Mandi's father, I swear that boy would have punched me in the face.
Fortunately, she dumped that loser a few months later.

I've totally done that before too! Cigarette butts taste terrible!! So glad I don't have to worry about that any more, I think I'm at about 2 months now not smoking cigarettes.

Re: funny story, the pepsi-can poltergeist
I've only done that once. Never again :l I thought it wasn't due but turns out the parents failed to ditch it, as it was 2 weeks past due. Was back when I didn't really care for milk so I didn't really check it or notice what was new and what was old.

Re: funny story, the pepsi-can poltergeist
Back when I was a kid (physically -- still there some days mentally!), I left a box of Lucky Charms on the kitchen counter one warm summer morning. Well, later that day my mother noticed those little black sugar ants cruising around the area, so quickly picked it up the cereal box and placed it in the fridge.
The next morning, I headed for that box first thing -- gotta have the morning sugar, you know? I poured a bowl, splashed in milk, and headed out to the porch to eat. I was somewhere between halfway and two-thirds done when I noticed these little black dots were in the morning's bowl....
And that they had legs.
It was more than ten years before I touched Lucky Charms again.
