Re: getting a new snake, need help

The reactions can be amusing at times yes. For anyone reading this, it's never a good idea to bring your snake in public like that. It can easily stress the snake out. You're also bringing the animal into someone's space who may be afraid of it, especially someone in an elevator! That's a very small area where they can't escape and someone can have a serious reaction to being afraid. A lot of people have a snake phobia.

Also what if the snake bit someone? There'd be an uproar of public outcry in that building that it should be gone and well it just spreads fear. I prefer to keep my snakes to myself and the chance of mishaps to a very small number.

I've seen plenty of "tame" snakes and plenty of those "tame" snakes have turned around to bite someone, or at the least, strike at someone. You shouldn't trust an animal that lives off instinct.

I am more concerned with just stating the fact that it's not a good practice to do on a regular basis, or at all, to any new snake owners who may be reading this.

Re: getting a new snake, need help

I totally understand what you're saying Aaron and I think that's great advice for anybody/everybody on this forum who happens to read it. It wasn't me who had him in the elevators it was his previous owner. If it makes you feel just a tiny bit better it was one of those apartments where everybody knows everybody, so when they saw her they shouldn't have been surprised.
Cheers,
Ken
