Fear Factor Sucks
so I was flipping through the channels when I thought i saw a large albino burm so I turned back to see a girl in a large tank of water(the said it was ice cold water) with tons of corn/ribbon/and other small snakes and one about albino burm about 7 foot all in this tank of water and the people had to jump into it and pick up like rings at the bottem or something, all the snakes looked really scared and with no where to climb out on and with people jumping on them i know some most of drowned. MY question is how is this legal?!

None of them drown and none of them were hurt. They have professional herpetologist bring in those snakes and set up the stunts. Man, these are reptiles, they are at home in the water. They can go under and stay for very long periods of time. I like fear factor, I would like it more if there was real danger involved. For example, I would like to see them place like a million dollars worth of gold bars in the bottom of Utan’s tank and let people dive for it. That would be entertainment! =)

I am sure the snakes don’t like it, however, they are using corns, burms, etc. these are notoriously tough animals. I am sure most would eat as soon as they were returned home if food was offered. If they had something like blood pythons or coral snakes in the water, then I would be concerned.

another thing to think about is it isent helping snakes and other reptiles as a hole, they put theses animals on the show, it just makes people hate them that much more.they make snakes look scary

On the other hand, maybe it improves the impression people have on snakes. After all, like you say they are jumped all over the snakes and they are 'trapped' and unable to get out - one would think that if ANYTHING these snakes would be biting at this point in time. :P

Gino has an interesting point. I don’t get to see this show much, but far as I know none of the animals used have ever hurt anyone. Should reinforce to people that they are not interested in attacking them.

How did you find out that there actually are proffessional herpitologists helping with the snake stunts?
