Any MXers or BMXers on here?

These are my other passions in life, just wondering if anyone else here shares the same feelings for Motocross and Freestyle BMX.
I got my first BMX when I was 4 or 5 years old, then when I was 12 I finally got my first dirtbike! I'm almost 27 now and I'm still riding "little kids" bikes, so they say. Anyone else ride?

I found I am to big and top heavy for those little bikes. It's like the circus.... the bear riding the tricycle. I love to mountain bike Freeride and I hope to get a hard tail soon to do more street riding. I haven't tried a dirtbike sad but true. I love watching BMX though.

I was into BMX freeslylin' in the 80s... problem is, I was really BAD at it! lol... oh man, the number of broken bones I would have had were it not for the full motocross gear I was wearing....

Everyone always laughs at me on my clown bike! I'm 6'3" on a tiny little bmx. It's smaller than normal too. 19.5' toptube, 13' back end. Usually they're about 20.5-21 tt, and 14-14.5 back end. For those who don't ride, yes a 1/2'-1' makes all the difference in the world. I've got mine slammed as low as it'll go too. It's pretty small but I'd like to get an even smaller one, but my big clodhoppers already hit the peg on my grindside sometimes.

What!!! Never on a dirtbike!!! That is sooo sad : ( You don't know what you're missing. I've been getting into MTB alot lately. Alot of my friends ride trials bikes and streetride MTB's as if they were BMX's. They seem to be taking over the skatepark too. I like trails and drops n' stuff on a mountain bike, and BMX's for the park and streets.

Sounds like me I am 6'4" with size 14's I can feel your pain. Although I did see a guy on TV that was 6"10" on a BMX it was hilarious but I guess it is possible. Maybe my fat head is slowing me down.

I know it is crazy what street MTB can do look at Calgary Native Doug Fink that guy is sick. No footed cans in a bowl. Do you ever watch drop in?

That's funny! I always laugh at the guys wearing full faced helmets and chest protecters and elbow pads etc. on a BMX. Mainly because those are the guys that don't try anything!!!
I hope you weren't one of those guys. It's altright to wear all that gear if you're at least gonna try crazy $#!t and you actually need it!
Did you have some sweet mag wheels like me in the 80's?
I had a pair of yellow ones and white ones. I can't believe I actually thought those were cool. The only good thing about them was if you bent a rim you could just throw them in the freezer and they'd true themselves! They're actually coming back into style. I really hope it's a short-lived fad!

Yeah Drop-in is a great show! It doesn't seem to have a regular schedule here though, it's sorta hit and miss.

Hey, I was totally one of those guys, but in my own defence, I was only 12-13 years old, and like I said, I was BAD at it! hahaha. The bike I had (and I don't know if they make these anymore, but back in my day it was one of the most expensive BMX's you could get) was built on a Hutch frame. A buddy of mine could build a BMX right down to the ball bearings. He got this Hutch frame (hollow pure Titanium - stronger than you can imagine, and lighter than you'd ever believe), and we threw a bunch of genuine BMX and Kuwahara parts on it - it was indistinguishable from a genuine Hutch. Man, I could launch that sucker.... between the bike AND its rider having a combined weight of a piece of sliced cheese, I had fun at the ramps, hahaha

Yeah I remeber Hutch frames. They're more racing frames, but they were good for their time for sure. Kuwahara still makes stuff, mainly flatland stuff though I think. My first BMX was a GT (back when they were good too), now I ride a Macneil. They're cdn and they're from you're neck of the woods Tim. Jay Miron owns them as well Ten Pack distribution. Also out west.

Haven't gotton a BMX bike yet, although I would prolly do well. I take to the air just on my mountain bike, with shox. I've taken to the air since I was seven(meaning goin off jumps) and I'm still bewilldered despite my close calls that haven't sent myself to a one way trip to ER. I have yet to break any bones. What can I say? I guess I'm immune to physical pain and just work through it.

Last injury I had with my bike I overjumped a tabletop and landed directly on my hip, then fell on my head, lol. No helmet eaither, whoops. Despite being dizzy, I got up off the ground almost immeadiatly to master it again.

Way I see it is, you only live once, so might as well enjoy the ride, til your paralized, lol. In my case, I should be greatful I am still standing.

I'll take to the air til I'm crippled.

Amen to that! I was crippled for a while and my biggest fear was not being able to ride again. I shattered both heels, but after they got screwed back together and I learned to walk again, my wheelchair actually made me a better rider. Believe it or not.

Skating, meaning with skateboards helps me to hone in on my balence to. If I have no balence on the board, I'm basically screwed. It's all in timing and how you can shift your wieght at the correct time, both holds true.

I'm 23, so I've had a few years to figure out what works best. And I'll tell anyone here, which most will know, don't over jump any ramp, whether its a kicker, tabletop or halfpipe or whatever. If it's over jumped you're prolly screwed, lol. Unless of course you can shift your wieght in time and strighten out and hold yourself up, without the 'bars' shifting sideways.

Dirt ramps are the best.

Just watch out for the trees! LOL.

I couldn't agree more. Also don't undershoot jumps either! A few years ago, I cased it on a 90ft double on my Dirtbike. I somehow didn't wipe out, but I smashed my face off the handle bars. Thank god I had a full face helmet on, I had a 1' hole right through about an 1' below my bottom lip that needed stiches. I couldn't imagine if I had one of those old school helmets on with no face protector. I was totally incoherant but somehow remembered to turn off the gas line before i layed the bike on it's side!?! The blood splash out the eye opening of my helmet looked like it was part of the design on the helmet!

I USED to bike, like flat land, riding wheelies like 20 feet. I tried the skate park, but it was very packed...

Now Im into agro sk8ting. I wanna get out of it since im a dare devil and try u, know jumping of 8ft sair cases!
