Reptile show in Victoria???????
So Canwest shows hosted a Pet Expo in Victoria on the weekend. I went and was pleased to see 2 whole exhibitors there with herps and exotics! WOO HOO!! There were 2 guys from Wrapped up in Reptiles in Alberta ( I think that's the name) and 2 people from Cinemazoo in Vancouver. After holding "Thing" the burm and "Bretney" the albino burm, I think I'm in love! What wonderful snakes!
I think that I need to send Canwest Shows a message and tell them that they should set up a reptile show in Victoria. I sent an email to the WSPCR and they said that we need to organize one ourselves. All their people are on the mainland.
What do you think? Is their interest out there for a show on the Island?
Tracy

I loved holding Thing. I showed the pic to my hubby when I got home and said " look at my new pet" He didn't see the humour in that

Dean, are you guys back home already? I was out of here for work (real job, not snakes), sorry I missed you guys. But I did send 3 families down to see you guys, 2 of which got to hold snakes! Ha ha, it must have been a Burm from the way they described it. I think they paid to get photos as well?
Cheers.

The reason why the Canwest shows have so little Herpers attend as vendors is due to the outrageous prices charged for table space etc. I know when the Pet Expo was here in Calgary tables were like $300 each for like a six foot table. I found it mostly to be Dog & Cat stuff & the whole show here in Calgary was more about marketing products then it had to do with education, awareness etc. IMHO The only reason I even went was because they were handing out free tickets at the TARAS show. Mark I.

Whats going to happen to the all the critters?
So will we see you at the Calgary show Jeff. If so I still want a certian critter.

Heh don't worry me and my dad are trying to save Crystal gardens. During Spring Break I went there 5 times!! Oh and I was the teenager at the Cinema zoo table with the bird eating spider or the Burmese Python around my neck(no I don't work there.) But I was talking about the spider and the burm what. Anyone got to touch the Indigo. I did and it was so cool to touchand I can't believe how friendly it was.

Yeah, it sucks about the Gardens. I believe that them being an accredited zoo, the animals will simply be packed up and shipped off to other facilities. But as we know, this doesn't always work. Especially with some of the "smarter" mammals.
Cheers.

I got to hold that spider and man is it huge! I've had a fear of spiders my whole life so it was a big thing for me to handle it.

I hear you there, Mark! Expensive for the average vendor, and even as a paid exhibit, I would not do it. Something about having snakes, gators and monitors in a building of potential prey is just looking for trouble.

Careful Retic Chic
One could take that statment different ways. Have you come to one of the Pet Expos? Do you see all the behind stuff going on to ensure a safe display?
