More Than One Snake In A Tank?

When I got my Cali king I was told that I could not keep her with another snake because she would kill it.

I now have a corn in another tank. What would happen if I put a 5 month corn in with my 7 month corn?

Could I put any other youngster in with my corn or is it asking for trouble, please?

In my opinion, which I'm basing on things I've read and things that I know large breeders do, I feel that snakes should never be housed together.
Here are some points that I keep in mind and reasons why I do not house them together.
1. The presence of another animal in their space represents competition, competition leads to stress.
2. Stress leads to loss of appetite and or disease.
3. If one sick gets sick they can both get sick.
4. How do you know who is defecating and who is not?
5. Snakes are not social animals so although captivity its self is not natural forcing two animals to live together is even more unnatural.
It has also been proven on this site that conrs will eat other corns.
I have 30+ snakes and 30 cages.

If corns/kings are canabilistic then how to people breed them?

They are euqal size, well fed and only have one thing on their mind and food isn't it. Plus they are often fasting duing this time.

Things are different at breeding time Bartman....normally male kings are especially interested in one thing and one thing only and thats breeding. So around the right time of year, with them cycled for breeding it can be pretty easy. Although accidents can and have been known to happen even at breeding time.

Hi, I personally keep all my animals separate, the main reason for that is in the event that one of them falls ill it isn’t in contact with my others, that alone is reason enough for me, even thought none of my snakes has had any problems yet (better not have just jinxed myself lol) but when about 5 years back I picked up my female ball, she was being housed with 2 males, and 2 corns, all snakes were adult, and the owner said they didn’t mind at all, and she was and still is very healthy, thought I’d add that in, although kings are a different story from what I hear they tend too eat other snakes, so those should be kept separate I would think, n e way there’s my 2 cents,

Well, according to the other thread I'm running at the moment, it would appear that my corn is very underweight so it would make sense to keep him on his won until I can either feed up up a bit or find out if there's something wrong with him.

Or, just always keep him seperate to ensure his health and safety.

If you keep your corn and king together, you won't have to worry about the weight of the corn very much longer.... he will be a pile of poop in about a week.

Don't keep snakes together especially different species and ESPECIALLY cannibalistic species.

Yep. Any man who goes off, living the life of a single man and has affairs leaving a woman to bring up a severely disabled little boy alone is a snake in my books. No offence to real snakes.
