Help, is this cataracts?
Hello!
I am a member of an animal care/rescue team at my university. Of the 5 snakes which we currently house, one of which, our Sonoran gopher snake (catenifer affinis), has been the subject of my attention lately.
He is a rescue, so we are unsure of his exact age, however, I have been on the team for three years, and I know we have had him for a total of at least 6 years.
A few months back, we noticed a bit of clouding over the right iris. we treated it as a retained eye-cap, but as we have been collecting his sheds, they all have an intact eye-cap.
As time went on, I noticed the condition had not improved and despite my research, I have found little to no indication as to what it may be until just recently.
On another forum, I found someone who seemed to have a similar condition which appeared in one of their snakes, and someone suggested it may be cataracts, but I'm looking for a few more opinions before take him in.
What do you guys think this is???
