Animal "numbers" with user's signatures

I've noticed a lot of users have numbers as part of their signatures associated with various animals in the format of "#.#.# animal species." What do the numbers mean?

Re: Animal "numbers" with user's signatures

The numbers indicate the gender of the animal. I hope this makes sense.

1.0= male
0.1= female
0.0.1=unknown

Re: Animal "numbers" with user's signatures

Thanks, that helps a lot. And, am I crazy or have I seen other numbers besides one being used? Is that if you have more than one snake? Example, 4 California Kingsnakes, 1 male, 2 females, and 1 unknown being "1.2.1 California Kingnake"?
