Question Wild Black Rat Snake needs help?

Hi, we have a Black Rat Snake living under our stoop (concrete slab). He came out today thinking it would be so cozy and warm and then seemed to be having trouble getting back into his hole. He eventually came all the way out and then wound around the side of the slab and is partially buried in the mulch there. It was 50f today, but tonight it will get down to 29f.

I'm just concerned that it will be too cold tonight and he is too exposed. I don't want to "mess with nature", but should I just scoop some more mulch on top of his exposed areas? Or should I just leave him alone (and he'll be fine)?

Apparently he's "lived here" for around 10 years. So I assume he knows what he's doing.

We are in Northern VA.

Re: Wild Black Rat Snake needs help?

He should be fine and by the time you read this, he's probably all the way in under the slab safe and sound. Thanks for caring enough about this wild snake to ask this question.
